George T. Colvin Jr.

George Thomas Colvin, Jr., 100, husband of Josephine Lee (Kyle) Colvin, of Staunton, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Augusta Health.

He was born April 5, 1920 in Craigsville, a son of the late George Thomas, Sr., and Annie Bettie (Crawford) Colvin. He married Josephine Lee (Kyle) Colvin on September 4, 1946.

Mr. Colvin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945.

Prior to retirement in 1982, George was a self-employed building contractor.

He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by special nieces, Lela Kitts and Jan Kitts-Cook, and many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize five special friends, Cathy Campbell, Juanita Fawley, Wanda Naggy, Janice Moyer, and Rebecca Grogg.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, William Mack Colvin, Jesse Colvin, John Samuel Colvin, Sr., Charlie Colvin, and William Edgar Colvin, Sr. and five sisters, Mattie Carper, Lillie Massie, Annie Byram, Gertrude Via, and Ethel Massie.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2021 at Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. Jacob Singleton and the Rev. Linwood Wilkes.

The family will greet friends following the service.
