Alan Douglas Obaugh, 64, of Staunton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29, 2024, after a 12-year battle with prostate cancer. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry W. Obaugh. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Laurie H. Obaugh; his mother, Carolyn S. Obaugh; his brother, Dean Obaugh (Judy); his stepdaughter, Lindsey Lohr (Adam); his stepson, Mitchell Childress; his nephew, Tyler Obaugh; and his goddaughter, Blair McDonough (Bridget). Alan is also survived by six grandchildren who lovingly called him "Happy", several cousins, and many great friends. 

Alan was a graduate of Robert E Lee High and Virginia Tech. He worked as a claims adjuster for over 30 years for various companies including Barker Claim Services.

Alan was an Eagle Scout. He loved spending time with friends, family, and mostly his dog, Hank. He loved Virginia Tech football, golf, and gardening.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Stacey Burkholder officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Augusta Regional SPCA (PO Box 2014 Staunton, VA 24402), or the Salvation Army (1700 W Beverley St, Staunton, VA 24401).
