STAUNTON, VA. Albert Paul Ullrich, 87, husband of Grace Ullrich, of Staunton, Va, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Va. He was born on April 22, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Albert Paul and Anna (Herrmann) Ullrich. Mr. Ullrich served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Following the war, he received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Johns University. He retired from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, and will always be remembered as "Papa". In addition to his wife, family members include four sons, Thomas and his wife, Jackie, of Staunton, VA, Brian and his wife, Carla, of South Riding, VA, Timothy of Plano, TX and Richard and his wife, Jennifer, of Manorville, NY; 21 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert John Ullrich; and two sisters, Anna Grzanka and Mary Warnke. A funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church by Father Joseph Wamala. Burial will follow at Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Henry Funeral Home.
