Anastasia “Soulla” Yiasemides M. Papadopoulou, of Weyers Cave Virginia, aged 87, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, August 9, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home with her family.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she spent her life loving, giving, and praying for others.
She was born August 21, 1936, in Morphou, Cyprus to Yiannis and Evrethiki Yiaemides.
She grew up enjoying sewing, cooking and gardening, which she later became an exceptional seamstress and food caterer. In 1963, she married Miltiades Papadopoulou, from Evrehou, Cyprus. Anastasia was the mother of four daughters: Marina, Voulla, Ria, and Joanie. Prior to the Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus, in 1974, Anastasia and her family owned citrus groves in Morphou. Afterwards, in 1975, she immigrated to the USA.
Caring and giving, she enjoyed gracious hospitality and preparing her signature recipes for others. Anastasia daily read bible scriptures and prayed for her family and friends. Among her favorite scriptures was Psalm 103 (NKJV): “Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name...” (Psalm 102 - Greek Orthodox Bible Translation)
A blessing to family, friends, and all who knew her, we remember her with much love and thanksgiving.
