Ardie Lee Ervin, 72, a distinguished individual who dedicated his life to the practice of law, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Monroe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville.
He was born on October 21, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Dr. Amil Leroy and Mrs. Ethel Nell Kirkland Ervin.
Mr. Ervin graduated from Bridgewater College and further pursued his studies at the T.C. Williams Law School at the University of Richmond. Armed with a strong educational foundation, he embarked on a journey marked by professionalism and commitment.
Throughout his life, Ardie excelled in numerous capacities within the legal field. He served as the assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Augusta County before assuming the role of lead Commonwealth's Attorney - a position he held for nearly four decades. His impeccable work ethic, along with his unwavering dedication to justice, earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Ellen Harman Ervin; their son, Shane Ervin and his wife, Brandi; his brothers, Howard Dale Ervin and Robert Gene Ervin and his wife, Teresa; and his grandchildren, Landon, Adria, and Kendall.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Andrew Travis Ervin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with the Reverend Merle Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
A private graveside service will be held at the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery at a later date.
