Barbara Jean H. Thompson

Barbara Jean Harper Thompson, 73, of Waynesboro, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Barbara was born on February 19, 1950 in Staunton to the late William Daugherty and Virginia Frances Hedrick Harper.

She was retired from Western State Hospital where she had been employed for many years as a food service worker.

Over the years, Barbara cared for many dogs and cats and was a great animal lover. She also took great pride in her home and enjoyed working in her yard and caring for her flowers.

Barbara is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas William and Donna B Harper; three nephews, TJ Harper, Ben Harper, and Chris Campbell; and two nieces, Katie Harper Rankin and Kim Campbell Fairchild. She is also survived by two great-nephews, Dylan Fairchild and James Harper; and a great-niece, Sloane Campbell; as well as special friends, Eric, Heather, and Isaac Morris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Ann Harper Campbell and Linda Gail Harper Campbell, and a niece, Michelle Dawn Campbell.
