Brigitta "Gitta" Katharina (Protil) Sensabaugh

Brigitta “Gitta” Katharina (Protil) Sensabaugh passed away peacefully on August 18, 2022.

She was born in Sremska Mitrovica, Yugoslavia, on November 6, 1940 to the late Wendelin and Hermine Christine (Willner) Protil.

She married James Richard Sensabaugh on February 20, 1960, in Saint Francis Catholic Church in Staunton.

Mrs. Sensabaugh worked for the Greif Company in Verona for many years. She was a long-time member of Saint Francis Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the Altar Guild along with her husband, James.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Richard Sensabaugh; a brother, Karl Protil; and a sister, Eda Glover. She is survived by a brother, Manfred S. Protil; two daughters, Suzanne M. Sensabaugh and Carrie F. Sensabaugh; a son, Michael S. Sensabaugh and his wife, Renee; and three grandchildren, Jeremiah, Melina, and Emma.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday August 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Fishersville.

Pallbearers will be Manfred Protil, Michael Batey, Scott Langston, Mark Protil, Rick Yeomans II, Ward Whitesell, and Denny Throckmorton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Smile, Augusta Regional SPCA, or other charity of your choice.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Regency of Augusta Memory Care, Augusta Hospice, and Augusta Palliative Care for their dedication of care to Mrs. Sensabaugh during the past few months.
