Christopher Adrian Crooker, 83, a longtime resident of Lynchburg, VA, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Regency at Augusta in Fishersville, VA.

Born on August 12, 1941, in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Richard Crooker and Helen Marie (Sybert) Crooker.

He grew up in Syracuse, NY, and graduated from Holy Cross High School, in Lynchburg, VA after the family relocated there. Chris served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the Marines in Vietnam (1964-65). He graduated with both a B.S. and M.B.A. from Lynchburg College and retired from Ericsson-GE, where he served in multiple capacities including tenure in Finance, Information Systems and Personnel Training.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Fullen Crooker, and two brothers, Ted Crooker and Jerry (Otis) Crooker. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Perry and her husband, Mark of Staunton, VA, and a sister, Molly Brick and her husband, Bob, of San Antonio, TX.

Chris was proud to have been a Hospital Corpsman and was particularly pleased when someone referred to him as “Doc” or thanked him for his service. He spent a year in Copenhagen, Denmark with his family and often talked about the places they visited, and the other places he traveled while working for Ericsson-GE. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at Centra Health in Lynchburg, VA, even visiting patients as “Doc” the clown. He enjoyed sharing information about things he loved with others, including dressing as the Grinch for presentations about Christmas around the world. He loved “dad” jokes, TV crime shows, playing cards and helping others. He even learned sign language so he could communicate with some people he met after moving to the Staunton area.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Regency at Augusta and Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their care.

There will be no services. He would love nothing more than for people to share a “dad” joke in his memory. Please contact the family to share memories and stories at any time.
