Clara P. Lucas

Clara "Sally" Marie Purdham Lucas, 81, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Augusta Health in Fishersville. 

She was born on August 29, 1942, in Page County to the late Homer Virvin Purdham and Esta Clara Painter Breeden.

In her lifetime, Sally found joy in simple pleasures – she loved gardening and cooking. Her apple sauce cakes were a particular favorite among those fortunate enough to have tasted them. Most of all, she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and took great pride in caring for them.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her loving husband, Keith Mitchell Lucas; her brothers, Wayne Virvin Purdham and Jerry Lynn Purdham; and her sister, Bonnie Lou Purdham Dinges.

She is survived by her son, Van Arthur Lucas; her daughters, Vickie Ann Lucas Wade and Venda Anita Lucas Argenbright; her sister, Judith Loraine Purdham Comer; her half-sister, Anna Jean Purdham Sherffy; her grandchildren, Amy Burns, Bryan Lucas, Shelby Lucas, Chris Serrett, Kandi Wade, William "Mitch" Wade, Denise Argenbright, Chad Argenbright, Dougie Miller, Buddy Miller, and Katlynn Thompson; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Sally's life will be celebrated and remembered during a graveside service conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton with the Reverend Russell Heinrich officiating.
