Clayton S. Clark

Clayton Sidney Clark, 85, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born on November 22, 1939, in Auburn Heights, Michigan, to the late Sidney and Sylvia Caverly Clark.

In his secular career, Clay was a general contractor and a master commercial plumber, operating his own businesses and teaching his trade to his children and others. He leaves a lasting mark in his community through his strong work ethic and his expansive volunteer work.

His career was just a piece of his rich and fulfilling journey. His faith played a central role in his life, marked by his baptism on April 1, 1967, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was actively involved in voluntary relief work projects and devoted much of his time in utilizing his plumbing and building expertise to contribute to the construction of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Halls and branch facilities both in the United States and around the world.

In addition to his professional pursuits and community involvement, he loved to paint, swim, fish, hunt, and travel. He also loved sports and teaching his children to play.

Clay leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory. He is survived by his children, Sharel Hagadone and her husband, Steve, Debra Hagadone and her husband, Curt, Mark Clark and his wife, Teresa, Susan Jordan, Daniel Clark and his wife, Marlei, and Darin Clark and his wife, Peggy, Kimberly Jones and her husband, Phillip, and Summer Murphy and her husband, Thomas; his brothers, Paul and Norman Clark; his sister, Judith Clark McNeil; twenty-four grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren with one on the way.

In addition to his parents, Clay was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty years, Shirley Ann Fields Clark; his brothers, Dick, Stan, Doug, Clyde, Dale, and Michael; and his sisters, Mary, Leanore, Ardith, and Sherrie.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Staunton with Elder Steve Hagadone officiating.
