Connie “Rose” Jean (Hodge) Bayne, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2021.
She was born on April 3, 1943 in Jennings Gap, daughter of Lewis Hunter and Mary (McCray) Hodge.
Prior to retiring, Connie was a clerk for Commissioner of Revenue of the City of Staunton, helping many with their taxes. She also worked at Schmid’s Printing and McClure Printing in Verona.
She was a graduate of the Elizabeth Brant School of Business.
Connie (and husband Ernest) were foster parents and participated in the Fresh Air program for years giving underprivileged children a home.
Family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary (Bayne) and John W. Martin, her grandchildren, John Leonard, Christopher, Luke, Emma, Lillian, and Henry Martin; her son, Jonathan Eric Bayne; her brother, Franklin Alexander Hodge.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 7 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John W. Martin. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. on May 7 in the funeral home. Covid protocols will be followed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dale Lewis Hodge, her sister, Joan Marie Hodge and her husband Ernest L. Bayne, Jr.
