Connie R. Johnson

Connie Maye (Riley) Johnson, 75, wife of Harry Johnson, passed away peacefully at 102 Mulberry St. on October 7, 2022.

She was born on November 28, 1946 in Deerfield, Va, a daughter of the late, Marvin “Mack” McKinley Riley, Sr. and Carrie Kathleen (Cale) Riley.

Connie Johnson worked many years as a CNA. She attended the Staunton First Church of God and she enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, friends, church family and her pets.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her sister, Bonnie Graham, brother, Franklin Riley; her brother-in-law, Jim Bryant; her children, Michelle O’Rourke, Kathy and Larry Hobbs, Mary Guffey, Dan McGann, and Richard Johnson and Amy Huffman; her grandchildren, Katherine Guffey, Amber Hobbs, Wesley Hobbs, Brittany O’Rourke; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Hobbs, Hunter Hobbs, Nathan Hobbs, and numerous nieces and nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin, Billy, Stanley and Lewis Riley; and sisters, Barbara Bryant and Rose Mary Burgandine, and her first husband Edgar Powers.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Kyle Yates. Burial will follow at Deerfield Community Cemetery. A reception will be held following the burial at Staunton First Church of God.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 11, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Henry Funeral Home.

Active Pallbearers will be Mike Guffey, Russell Rankin, Mike Coffey, Levi Coffey, Chuckie Stuples and Bob Simmons.

The family would like to thank Augusta Health Hospice and her special care giver Betty Decker for there love and support during this time. A thanks to the special people in her life also, Lisa Reynolds, Sherry Hite, Sylvia Shirey, Tommy Guffey, Chuckie Stuples and Ann Reynolds.
