Curtis Ray Campbell, 68, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who lived a life of deep faith and remarkable spirit.

He was born on October 2, 1955, in Lancaster, California to the late Herman Alvin and Marveen Mae Coiner Campbell. 

A convert to Russian Orthodoxy, Curtis embraced his faith wholeheartedly, becoming an integral part of his church community, the Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Christian Church in Mount Crawford. His dedication to service and spirituality was evident in his active participation in worship and outreach, where he exemplified the virtues of love, kindness, and humility.

Curtis proudly served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of sergeant. His military service gave him the opportunity to demonstrate his integrity, discipline, and a steadfast commitment to community, which he continued to carry with him throughout his life.

In addition to his spiritual pursuits, Curtis was a gifted musician, whose passion for music was evident in his skillful playing of the guitar, banjo, and piano. He undertook the delightful challenge of learning the bagpipes, a testament to his lifelong love of music and his desire to share joy with others.

A guiding light to his family, he instilled in them the importance of faith, resilience, and the joy of music. He is survived by his loving wife, Svetlana Nicholoaevna Nasonova Campbell; his sons, Alexis Gaylord, Sebastian Thomas, and Nicholas D Day and Micah Campbell; his daughters, Kim Hakel, Monica Sewell, Charity Frash, and Candice Andrews; his grandchildren, Amy Wollaston, Zachary Sewell, Norene Hakel, Aaron Hakel, Chaz Sewell, Ava Frash, Sarah Sewell, Christian Frash, Breaha Tate, Robert Hakel, Jr., and Noelle Day; his brother, Daniel Campbell; and an uncle, Albert Coiner.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wives, Dorotha Karen Campbell and Sophia Day Campbell.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Christian Church with Archpriest Gabriel Weller officiating.

Interment will follow in Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
