Cynthia "Cindy" Elmira Sutton Wright, 71, of Harrisonburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, after a short illness.

Born on April 7, 1953, in Staunton, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Odie, Sr. and Faye Haveland Shumate Sutton and raised in Churchville.

Cindy was a proud graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.

She married Curtis Allen Wright in 1980, and together they raised their daughter, Crissy, and cherished their granddaughter, Brynn.

Cindy was a woman of simple joys, spending much of her time enjoying her hobbies, including cross-stitching and watching her favorite soap operas.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Christina "Crissy" Haveland Wright Gentry and her husband, Jason; her granddaughter, Brynn Haveland Gentry; her sisters, Donna Faye Sutton Shiflet and her husband, Don, and Theresa Dawn Sutton Lanier and her husband, Mike; and her sister-in-law, Lynda Sutton, as well as generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Nelson Odie Sutton, Jr. and a nephew, Nelson Odie Sutton III.

Cindy will be missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private family graveside service will be conducted on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
