David C. Bales

David Christian Bales, 21, of Staunton, son of Mark and Kathy Rankin Bales, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

David was born on November 26, 2001 in Memphis, TN.

He was employed as a production associate at McKee Foods in Stuarts Draft. He loved going on drives in his car/truck and treasured spending time with his friends and family. He had a passion for video games – his gamertag was dcb1126 – and he was a true Lego aficionado.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Ruby “Mom Mom” Rankin of Verona; his paternal grandfather, Ronald “Pawpaw” G. Bales of Raphine; his paternal grandmother, Barbara Frazier of Phoenix, AZ; his uncle, Jonathan Bales and his wife, Beth of Raphine; the love of his life, Katie Swartz and her daughter, Sienna of Stuarts Draft; his best friend and soul brother, Skylon Moss of Orlando, FL; his birth-father, Ronnie Brackeen of Memphis, TN; numerous cousins and other family; and his loving canine companion, Haley.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home and other times at his residence, 901 Powhatan Street, in Staunton.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Terrance Williams and Pastor Kevin Harris. Interment will follow at Thornrose Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Skylon Moss, Logan Sump, Bryan Mazariego, Thomas Wagoner, Kheandre “Dre” Jackson, Justin Moran, Blake Gutshall, Brett Iazzo, and Demetrius Towers.
