STAUNTON –
David Lee Rowe, 87, husband of Judith “Judy” Dickerson Rowe, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2021.
David was born August 31, 1933, in Staunton, only child of the late Orvey W. Rowe and Inez (Fitzgerald) Rowe Bridges.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as an Artillery Sergeant, served eight years in the Army Reserve. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
David attended Robert E. Lee High School, Elizabeth Brant School of Business, and Dunsmore Business College.
He retired in 1993 after 29 years with DuPont. While at DuPont, he served on the Union Board. Afterward, he was employed in the Pharmacy at Walmart of Staunton for 10 years.
David was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
David was preceded in death by his parents Orvey W. Rowe and wife, Margaret Hess Rowe and Inez F. Rowe Bridges and husband, Raymond W. Bridges; his sisters, Hazel Bridges Propst and Joan Bridges Pitsenbarger; and granddaughter, Amanda Rowe Moyers.
Family includes his wife of 53 years, Judy; three children, Tracey Rowe Eagle (David), Theresa Rowe Duncan (Jeff Cook) and Steven Scott Rowe (Missy) all of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Eagle, Isaac Eagle, James Scott Rowe, Nikki Duncan, and Chris Duncan; five great grandchildren, Starla Selene Moyers, Mason Kyle Moyers, Aiden White, Alli Duncan, and Brennan Duncan; and brother-in-law, Ray Pitsenbarger.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church by the Revs. Dr. Michael Fitzgerald and Gene Williams. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with Military Honors by an Honor Guard of the United States Army.
Active pallbearers will be David Eagle, Isaac Eagle, Brian Viel, Larry Johnson, Brian Kyle Turner, and James Rowe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Eagle, Earl Cox, and Bob Paul.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, in Henry Funeral Home.
