David N. Turner

David Newell Turner, loving father of three children and husband to Pat Buchanan Turner, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023 at his beloved Staunton home where he was surrounded by loved ones.

David was born in Portland, Maine on August 27, 1952, the second of three children of the late Lorraine and Reuben Turner. David grew up in Hudson, Ohio and attended Ohio University. He raised his family in Lexington, S.C. before eventually moving to historic Staunton, VA, where he owned and operated Signature Stone granite company for more than a decade.

Dave, as many called him, was known to be a simple man who was most happy spending time with family and friends. With his bright blue eyes and heart of gold, he never took life too seriously, and could light up any room with his smile. Hardworking, honest, and fair, he faced life with hope, and a positive attitude. David will always be remembered for his genuine friendliness, good nature, and humor. In his final weeks, David received many visits and phone calls from those who reminded him of the memorable impact he made on their lives through his kindness and love.

David is also survived by his three children; Lisa Turner Cottam of Atlanta, Ben Turner of Cibolo, TX and Bethany Turner of Lawrenceville, GA and his four beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by his older sister, Jane Turner Michael of Boston and younger brother Scott and wife Kayce Turner of Deltaville, VA.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Turner residence in Staunton on April 8th from 1 PM - 4 PM.
