Dennis John Flynn February 22, 1944 - August 1, 2011 Dennis John Flynn, 67, husband of Mary (Boyd) Flynn, of 109 Greenwood Road, died Monday August 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1944 in Niagara Falls to Gerald William Flynn and Ann (Swistock) Flynn, both deceased. Dennis served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970, culminating in a two-year assignment as an intelligence analyst in Japan. Shortly after, he earned his bachelor's in environmental conservation from the University of Maryland, where he met his wife. Over a fourteen-year career with the USDA Soil Conservation Service, Dennis held various roles in water and soil conservation in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Dennis launched his own printing business in downtown Staunton in 1985. Throughout his life, Dennis enjoyed sailing, skiing, hunting and birdwatching. In his youth, he was a high school and college wrestler. He carried on his passion for wrestling by volunteering as an assistant coach for Robert E. Lee High School. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons, Kevin Stephen Flynn of Boulder, CO and Patrick William Flynn of Ft. Collins, CO; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ted Lawson of Canton, OH; a niece, Emily Lawson and her husband, Guy Kwan of Brooklyn, New York.
