Dennis W. King
Dennis “Bucky” Wayne King, 62, of New Hope, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Thymic Carcinoma.
Dennis was born in Staunton and he was a 1979 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School.
He started his career at Shop and Save in Staunton before working at Shenandoah’s Pride Dairy. He later retired from the dairy as a route supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing rec league softball, and riding back roads with the windows down. He always had a saying of, “don’t sweat the small stuff, it’ll all work out.”
Surviving him is a daughter, Katie King of Staunton. Family members also include his siblings and their spouses, Linda S. and Lynn Townsend of Churchville, Sharon S. and Anthony Vizachero of Churchville, Judy S. Talley of Staunton, Larry T. and Janet King of Staunton, James D. "Pete" and Rhonda King of Swoope, and Mack W. and Sarah King of Churchville and his aunts, Mabel Snyder, Velda Smith, and Becky King. Family members also include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas “T.O.” and Judith King; a brother-in-law, Dave Talley; his nephews, Josh King and Brian Vizachero; and his uncle, James Varner.
The family would like to give sincere thanks to the UVA TCV ICU, VCU STICU, Augusta Health ER, ICU, Medical Floor and Wound Clinic for all the care and support given over the last five months.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home with Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Puckett, Keith Brown, Eric Wade, Wesley King, Travis Cash, and Wayne Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Townsend, Greg Knight, Randy Knight, and Justin McCray.
Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Henry Funeral Home, P. O. Box 1076, Staunton, Virginia 24402.
