Donna L. Nichols

Our dear mother, Donna L. Nichols, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the age of 84.

She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the community in both Roanoke and Staunton, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Nichols; her mother and father, Dana and Marjorie Fitzgerald; and her brother, Judd Fitzgerald.

She leaves behind her daughter, Catherine Walters; her son, Brian Walters; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity. 

She always had much love for the many dogs that were part of her life and provided her with loving companionship. 

In lieu of a memorial service or flowers, she requested that donations be made to the Angels of Assisi (415 Campbell Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016) or any other preferred community shelter for dogs.
