EDWARD H. MEEKS STUARTS DRAFT, VA Edward Hampton Meeks, 69, husband of Mae (Allen) Meeks, of 11 Torry Lane, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at his residence. He was born April 6, 1942, in Staunton, a son of the late William Thomas and Myrle (Ashby) Meeks. Prior to retirement, Mr. Meeks was employed by Cold Springs Correctional Center and spent 45 years in law enforcement. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and was a member of Millboro Masonic Lodge. He was an avid Yankees fan and golfer, and was dedicated and devoted to his family. In addition to his wife, family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa (Meeks) and Andy Fauber and Rebecca Kay Meeks, all of Stuarts Draft; a sister and brother-in-law, Kitty and Phil Welcher of Staunton; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Addy and Jimmy and Ruth Ashby; three grandchildren, Delaney Elizabeth Fauber, Brent Daryl "BJ" Weaver, Jr., and Rachel Weaver; a niece, Debbie Crim; five nephews, Tommy Rivenback and his wife, Brenda, Dwayne Rivenback and his wife, Melissa, Raymond Ashby, Derek Rivenback, and Mike Addy. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Thornrose Cemetery by Rev. Bill Johnson. Active pallbearers will be B. J. Weaver, Tommy Rivenback, Dwayne Rivenback, Brandon Grant, Brent Weaver, Derek Rivenback, Andy Fauber, and Garland Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Cold Springs Correctional Center. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
