Elizabeth "Betty" H. Bonham

Elizabeth (Betty) Graham Holmes Bonham, 92, of Staunton, died Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Baldwin Park.

She was born on August 16, 1932 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Sherwood and Ivie Graham Holmes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Griffin Eckle Bonham, and grandson, Jonathan Graham Bonham.

Betty graduated from Middle Tennessee State College in 1953, and began a career in teaching. She later received a Master’s Degree in Education from Georgia State University.

She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, served as an elder, and was a member and moderator of the Presbyterian Women. She was a 50-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She is survived by her son, Wendell Bonham and his wife, Kristine, of Charlottesville; her daughter, Nancy Bonham of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Griffin Bonham and his wife, Hillary, Kirsten Theobald and her husband, Andrew, and Anna Bonham; and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Baldwin Park and the Hospice of the Shenandoah for the care and kindness shown to Betty.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton.
