Staunton - Florence Etta (Floyd) Humphrey, 89, widow of Bernard Taylor "Bernie" Humphrey, of Staunton died Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.
She was born August 14, 1931, in Buena Vista, a daughter of the late Robert H. and Luetta (Pultz) Floyd.
Prior to retirement, she was employed by J.C. Penney.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby, Tommy, Buddy, and Tony.
Family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Edgar Patterson III and Cindy and Daniel “C.L.” Booth; two sisters, Anna “Jo” Wimer and Mary Smith; a granddaughter, Faith Patterson; step-grandchildren, Matthew Patterson and Tammy Patterson and Sparkle Derr; step-greatgrandchildren Dillon Patterson, Brandon Patterson, Josh Patterson, Lexia Derr, Layton Derr, and Emma Cash.
Florence was a devout Christian and loved praising the Lord every day. She served as an Edler and Deacon at Bethany. She loved to sing and was a member of the church choir and loved her church family very much. She loved her family and loved family gatherings. She really enjoyed the weekends the last few months going to Cindy & C.L.’s camp in West Virginia, where she was able to sit and watch deer, birds, and enjoy the quietness of nature. She will be missed by so many, but she has reached her eternal home and is not in pain and confusion anymore.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John Craft. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Samuel Bennett, Jr., David Hailey, Walter Pultz, David Wimer, Timmy Floyd, Gary Pultz, and Rick Adkins.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2021, in the Henry Funeral Home.
