Georgie S. O'Bannon

Georgie S. O’Bannon, of Verona, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024.

She was born on August 17, 1940, in Bath County to the late George William, Sr. and Mary Priscilla Wiley Simpson.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Powell O’Bannon; her stepdaughters, Cherie Houston and Dana Griffin; her sister, Betty Lou Simpson Cord; and her nieces, Jonni Lou Cord and Elizabeth Downes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Houston Simpson.

This world will be a much darker place without Georgie and her bright sparkle. They truly broke the mold when she came into this world, and she will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Timmy Woodson officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.

Active pallbearers will be Timmy Shull, Mark Dunsmore, Tommy Houston, Justin Rexrode and Alfredo “Danny” Salazar.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
