Gerald Wayne Harris, 82, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his residence in Staunton.

He was born on September 5, 1942, in Staunton, to the late George Dewey, Sr. and Elizabeth Lucille Showalter Harris.

Gerald dedicated many years of his life to his work as a polisher for Virginia Metalcrafters in Waynesboro.

Gerald took pride in being a member of the Stonewall Rifle and Pistol Club in Churchville and held a longstanding membership with the National Rifle Association of America.

He is survived by his son, Michael Wayne Harris; his daughter, Evelyn Marie Harris Farid; and his granddaughters, Tabitha Renee Harris, Rosey Farid, and Ava Farid.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Marie Sheets Harris; his brothers, George Dewey Harris, Jr., James Howard Harris, and Charles Edward Harris; and his sister, Patsy Lou Harris Montgomery.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Legacy Hospice.

It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to Legacy Hospice (650 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Ste 310, Charlottesville, VA 22911).
