STAUNTON, VA Goldie Thompson Weaver, 89, widow of John Thomas Weaver, of 397 Linden Drive, died September, 2, 2013, at Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born January 17, 1924, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late George and Georgia (Welcher) Thompson. Prior to retirement, she worked for General Electric. She was a member of Linden Heights Baptist Church. Family members include four sons, Mack Weaver and wife, Rose, of Fishersville, Curtis Weaver and wife, Debbie, of Sparta, NC, Jerry Weaver of Staunton, and Marvin Weaver and fiancé, Lori Ruppel, of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Nellie Armstrong of Verona; six grandchildren, Nelson Weaver and wife, Missy, Jennifer Dunford and husband, Robert, and Kelly, Adam, Joshua, and Matthew Weaver; four great grandchildren, Whitney and Britt Weaver and Jacob and Anastasia Dunford. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles W. Thompson, George E. Thompson, Roy Thompson, and Curney Thompson; and three sisters, Linteen Burke, Coreen Fridley, and Nancy Thompson. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013, in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Luke Smith. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nelson Weaver, Adam Weaver, Joshua Weaver, Matthew Weaver, Robert Dunford, and John Botkin. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Henry Funeral Home.
