Harold Hull Ralston, Sr. husband of the late Jo Ann Whitley Ralston, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at his residence in Staunton.
He was born August 30,1935 in the home of his maternal grandparents at Hightown in Highland County, the son of the late Melvin Clark and Mabel Lee Hull Ralston.
Harold was an engineering graduate of Virginia Tech and was a Registered Professional Engineer during his working career. He served three years as an officer in the US Air Force and was also employed as an engineer with the Virginia Department of Transportation then as Director of Planning and Community Development for Augusta County until his retirement in the 1990s.
He was a charter member and past president of the Rotary Club of Staunton-Augusta County. He was a member of the Staunton Rotary Club and had many years of Rotary service. Harold was also a member of the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together Greater Augusta for ten years.
He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Lee Ralston and husband, Dallas Fitzgerald; a son, Harold "Hal" Hull Ralston, Jr. and his wife, Kelly; two grandsons, Jack Huston Ralston, and Henry Smith Ralston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, he is preceded in death by his only sister, Barbara Lee Ralston Fretwell.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday March 1, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home located in Staunton, Virginia.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Harold will be held in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Chuck Cole officiating.
