HARRY J. CASH STAUNTON, VA Harry Junior Cash, 84, of Staunton, passed away from this life to the next on Friday, October 14, 2011 in Fishersville. He was born February 23, 1927 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Harry Clinton and Susie Virginia (Huffman) Cash. At a very young age, he volunteered for the U.S. Navy during World War II and served on a ship that his gun crew was credited with shooting down at least two Japanese airplanes while under attack. After the war ended, he moved to Newport News and worked on submarines as an electrician and became a supervisor for Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company from which he retired. He then moved back to Rockbridge County where he remained the rest of his life. He began his life during the depression when times were rough, and his path through life was not an easy one. But, in the end he was saved and accepted the Lord as his Savior and is now resting peacefully on the other side. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Clinton Cash and a daughter, Eva Jo Cash. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, H. Michael and Mary Sue Cash of Yorktown; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Charlotte Cash of Raphine; a sister, Peggy Sue Warren of Fishersville; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in Old Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Fred Salmons.
