Harry C. Marshall

Harry Clinton Marshall, 76, of Staunton, husband of Nancy Cash Marshall for fifteen years, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2024, surrounded by family and his beloved little dog, Mugsy Jo and his cat, Mickey.

He was born November 22, 1947, in Monterey, the son of the late Henry Patterson and Madeline Frances Gutshall Marshall. 

He graduated from Monterey High School and Roanoke Business College. He retired in 2014, after working about 40 years as the business manager for Lovegrove Construction Company

Harry was an avid skier and particularly loved his skiing vacations in Breckenridge, Colorado. He worked part-time as a ski instructor for Massanutten Resort until his health prevented him from doing so.

He also took great pride in being the owner of a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, his first new car, which he still owns.

He also enjoyed his many tours on his Vegas trips including helicopter rides to the Grand Canyon, the Skywalk, driving scooter cars through Red Rock Canyon, and rafting down the Colorado River.

Harry was a member of St. Paul's Church and deeply cared for his church and his church family.

In addition to his wife, little dog, and cat, he is survived by his sisters, Gail Link and Carol Jennings and her husband, William; his brother, Terry Marshall and his wife, Kathy; and a number of very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Curtis Link.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. 

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Church in Staunton on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Ryan Oswald officiating. 

Interment at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton will follow.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Guffey, Dennis Hastert, Bo Flint, Edward “Buster” Lovegrove, John Withers, and Larry Carver. 

Guy C. Eavers, Mark Chambers, John Thompson, Don Cromer, Chuck Trippel, Harry Lunsford, Doug Harris, Phil Morrisette, Paolo Flippen, Kenny Jordan, Pete McCray, Charlie Hurt, Donald Nuckoles, John Dillon, Gene Halterman, Larry Hull, and Bruce Goff will serve as the honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Church (2000 Shutterlee Mill Rd, Staunton, VA 24401) designated to be used for the mortgage retirement.
