Hazel Catherine Smith Dodson, 72, life partner of Rodney Talley, passed away on February 5, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Hazel was born on July 9, 1950 in Arlington to the late Charles Kenton and Mary Jane Jones Smith.
She is survived by her son, Paul Wayne Dodson, Jr. and his wife, Ladena; her daughter, Lisa Dodson; her grandchildren, Brady Dodson and his wife, Logan, Zachary Dodson, Katie Horn, and Megan Horn; her great-grandchild, Layne Dodson; her brothers, Charles M. Smith and Wilson L. Smith; and her sisters, Shirley Ann Smith Benjamin, and Betty Jean Smith Miller.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Martha “Totie” Mae Smith Cook; her brother, Johnnie Lee Smith; and her great-grandchild, Laramie Dodson.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Health Equipment Loan Program (H.E.L.P.), PO Box 76, Churchville, Virginia, 24421.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Lester Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Guy Cook, David Cook, Brady Dodson, Gary Roudabush, Zachary Dodson, and Donald Miller.
