Howard William "Bill" Gordon

HOWARD W. GORDON VERONA, VA Howard William "Bill" Gordon, 91, of 51 Neighbor Street, Verona, passed away Monday morning, June 15, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 27, 1924, in Rockbridge County, son of William O. Gordon and Clara Smiley Gordon. Bill retired from DuPont with 35 years of service in 1985. He was a member of Verona United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Janette; brother Don and wife Nan of Tenn.; children, David Gordon and Susan Muterspaugh, Steven Gordon and Denise Surber all of Harrisonburg, Terrie Wood of Palmyra and Cindy Carpenter of Fishersville; step-son, Tony Marcum and wife Lisa, of Verona; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashley, Andrew and Beth, Nic and Ashley, Amanda and BJ, Jennifer and Joe, and Mariah; step-granddaughters, Taylor, Abby and Andrea; and 10 great-grandchildren Isaiah, Logan, Elias, Kennedy, Sadie Grace, River, Leif, Payton, Austin and Bryce. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his brothers, Irvine and Ollie; sisters, Margaret, Connie, and Florence; and a great-granddaughter Addy. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Verona United Methodist Church by the Revs. Bob Weeks and Jeff Allen. Burial will follow in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Shuler, Eddie Taylor, Curtis Carter, David Miller, David McAllister, E L Harris, Ron Daughtry, Larry Propst, and Earl Staubus. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Verona United Methodist Church Food Bank, P.O.
