James Pendleton Bowman

JAMES P. BOWMAN STAUNTON, VA James Pendleton Bowman, 79, husband of Barbara Jean (Reid) Bowman of 7 Woodland Drive, Staunton, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born October 29, 1931 in Staunton, a son of the late Otto Pendleton and Sallie (Thacker) Bowman. Mr. Bowman was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Prior to retirement, Mr. Bowman was Director of Social Services of Virginia. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, David Pendleton and Joann Bowman of Martinsburg, WV; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane Pendleton and Rev. Mark Davis of Monterey; and two grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Davis and Ryan James Bowman. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mark Davis. Burial will follow in The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the funeral home.
