James Woodrow Hostetter, 96, husband of Evelyn (Via) Hostetter, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. Hostetter was born on March 11, 1926 to the late William Edward and Lena (Martin) Hostetter in Goshen.
He served as a U. S. Navy seaman aboard the USS Eldorado in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 9480.
Mr. Hostetter retired from American Safety Razor as a lead millwright. He loved hunting, fishing, and raising tomatoes in his garden.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, James W. Hostetter, Jr., Sue Hostetter Cross, Jeffery “Marty” Martin Hostetter, and Diana Lynn Hostetter; and five siblings, William Hostetter, Jr., Andy Hostetter, Virginia Flint, and Helen Burke. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who he loved spending time with.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Marie Hostetter.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2022 at Middle River Church of the Brethren by Pastor Steve Via. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military rites will follow the service at Augusta Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Nuckoles, Bernie Elmore, Rick Thornton, Steve Arehart, A.T. Hostetter, and Clint Tribble.
