James W. Hostetter

James William “Dada” Hostetter, 80, widower of Joyce Ann Hostetter, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

James was born on November 27, 1942 in Collierstown, to the late William Edward Hostetter and Eva Mae Robinson Payne.

He retired from the City of Staunton and from Dr. Pepper Bottling.

Before getting ill, he loved bowling and taking his rides. “Dada” will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Rosson and husband, Timothy; grandchildren, Amanda Lewin and husband, John, Elizabeth Lilly and wife, Laura, Robert Thompson and wife, Nikki; and great grandchildren, Kameron Lewin, Kelsea Lewin and Deegan Thompson.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Hannah Hostetter Wilberger.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Russell Heinrich. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence of Amanda Lewin, 2221 Noon Street, Staunton, VA 24401.

Active pallbearers will be Kameron Lewin, Dwayne Simmons, Robert Thompson, Jeff Bosserman, Chris Knight and John Lewin.
