James "Jamie" W. Berry Jr.

James “Jamie” Winston Berry, Jr., 74, widower of Gale Elaine (Reardon) Berry, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at his residence in Augusta County.

Jamie was born on July 29, 1948, a son of the late James Winston Berry, Sr. and Mary Margaret (Lohr) Berry.

He attended Virginia Tech and while there played saxophone for the Corps of Cadets marching band, the Highty-Tighties. He later continued his studies at Winchester’s Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy.

He played in several local bands, most notably “Jaszpar” and “Flashback”. He loved music, his friends and family, helping people, and his puppies. He was also a great friend of Bill W’s for thirty-eight years.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather Lohr Berry of Augusta County, VA; his sisters, Mary Lou (Berry) Fogg and her husband, James “Jim” Randolph Fogg of Peach City, GA and Margaret Boyd (Berry) Phillips and her husband, Keith Barkley Phillips of Ellicott City, MD; his nephew, Randy Keith Fogg of Fayetteville, NC; his niece, Robyn Winston Fogg of Auburn, AL.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home with Cindy Corell officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to the Staunton-Augusta YMCA (708 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401).
