James (Jim) R. Rohr Jr., 87, went home to the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the Legacy of North Augusta in Staunton.
James was born on October 29, 1935, the son of the late James R and Bernice Crosby Rohr.
He attended school in Richmond, Va.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church and throughout the years, he served on several committees of the church.
James worked at Nabisco, Smith’s Transfer Special Commodities Group, and retired from Quicks Charter Bus company with 34 ½ years of service. He enjoyed driving the bus for Lee High Sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, and a sister, Juanita Hickman.
He is survived by a son Terry M. Rohr and his wife, Terry Lynn of Staunton; a daughter, Vicki Rohr Kirby and her husband, Robert Allan of Waynesboro; five grandchildren whom he loved very much, Rachel K. Moser and her husband Ryan; Ashley R. Lail and her husband Thomas; Kristen K. Allison and her husband, Sean; Aaron M. Rohr; Tyler M Kirby and his wife Tara; seven great-grandchildren, Kayden Rohr; Zaden and Quinn Nobles; Macy and Josie Lail; Arlo Allison and Audra Kirby; a nephew, Keith Painter and wife Barbara, and two nieces, Carolyn Bowman and Kathleen Edwards.
There will be a graveside ceremony at Thornrose Cemetery on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Greg Mayo.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the Legacy staff and the travel staff that took such great care of him on the Memory Care Unit and to the staff and volunteers with Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
