James W. Seay

James Winston "JW" Seay, 54, husband of Sharon Elaine Winsboro Seay, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlottesville.

JW was born on February 27, 1969 in Williamson, WV to the late James Lee Seay, Sr. and Rachael Sherron Snyder Seay.

JW was a devoted father, husband and friend. He lived his life finding joy in serving others, whether he was volunteering with his friends at Comfort Care, baking goodies galore to gift during the holidays or spending time with his beloved church family working on community projects as a charter member of Cornerstone Community Church of Crimora. He brought us joy.

Perhaps you knew JW as Bunny Love, the alter ego he enjoyed creating with his haunt crew friends at Madame Redrum's every October. This special circle of people helped him to heal through challenging times by encouraging him in the most creative ways. They held a very special place in his heart. He later used these newly honed acting skills to serve his Father in Heaven by joining the Life Christian Fellowship Drama Team where he assumed various roles in many community performances. He brought us laughter.

You might know JW as a gifted singer, often found singing karaoke with his wife and friends. His love of music was evident as he traveled with Derek and Elena to various music festivals together. He even started his own KJ business where he was able to share his love of music while, more importantly, connecting with others to provide encouragement as they shared their stories with them. He brought us peace.

JW was a godly man, sharing his testimonies openly and praying over perfect strangers at the gas station or grocery store. His goal was to be the light of Jesus for those lost in darkness. He succeeded.

JW never met a stranger. He adored his son. He loved his wife deeply, and he sang praises to his Heavenly Father with gratitude for his life here with us. Rest easy knowing that JW's absence here means he's now present with the Lord.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Derek Seay and wife, Elena. JW will be deeply missed by his extended family and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Henry Funeral Home.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
