Janet L. Tiderman
Jan Tiderman of Staunton, VA passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023.
She was born Janet Loyer in Findlay, Ohio on October 8, 1928.
She attended the College of William & Mary and Ohio State University.
Jan married Darb Tiderman, her husband of 74 years, on March 12, 1949. Jan raised two daughters and supported her husband’s career as a naval officer, making a home for her family through domestic and international assignments including California, Japan, Newport R.I., Iceland, Hawaii, and Washington, DC. She was also a skilled and passionate bridge player throughout her adult life. Following Darb’s retirement, they made their home in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Jan was predeceased by her husband on March 14, 2023.
She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Metz of Staunton, VA and Karen Owens of Cary, NC and their respective husbands Dave and Joe; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family mourns the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
