JASON W. HELMICK NORFOLK, VA Jason William Helmick, 39, died on November 3 in Norfolk, VA. He grew up in Augusta County, VA, served in the Navy, and has worked for Metro Machine (now General Dynamics NASSCO) of Norfolk as a marine electrician, lead man for the maintenance department for the last thirteen years. He is survived by his mother, Helen Semones of Bridgewater, VA, one brother, Jon Helmick of Crimora, VA, and special friend, Dani Petrosky of Palmyra, VA. Jason is also survived by one son, Devin Helmick of Palmyra, VA, and one daughter, Morgan Lockhart of Olympia, WA. He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Helmick, paternal grandparents, Hilda and Frank Helmick, and maternal grandparents, Homer and Mary McAlister. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Henry Funeral Home, 1030 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA. Burial will follow in Shutterlee Mill Community Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Trampus Armentrout, Brad Robertson, Devin Helmick, Jon Helmick, Bud Sharp, and Sylvan Howard. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest you make a contribution--in Jason's name--to your local volunteer rescue squad.
