Jason Neal Swats, 48, died at Augusta Health unexpectedly on January 31, 2021.
Jason Swats, father, son, and uncle was born in Staunton on May 6, 1972, and was taken too soon. Another bright light going out during this hard time. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger.
He graduated from Buffalo Gap High School and attended Potomac State College.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years as a Staff Sergeant, as a crew chief on the F-16 Fighter jet which gave him several tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, and other bases.
He was a member of the Staunton Moose Lodge, the Staunton Eagles, and the Beluga Whale Club. He loved coaching baseball, basketball, and football.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Helen Swats; a daughter Kaylee Swats; a brother and sister-in-law, Matthew Casey and Katlyn Swats; nieces, Eliza, Stella and Emma Swats; a special friend, Jodi Dobzeniecki; and an uncle, aunt, and cousins.
Due to COVID there will be a Celebration of Life at a late date.

Jason chose to donate his organs and encourage others to give the gift of life.
