Jean Baylor Nay   LEESBURG, VA…  Jean Baylor Nay passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Leesburg, Virginia. She was 93 years old.  She was born Eleanor Jean Baylor on March 31, 1925 in Staunton, Virginia to Frederick S. Baylor and Sarah Jordan Baylor. She is survived by her eldest son Robert F. Nay and his wife Barbara of Bedford, Virginia; her youngest son William H. Nay and his wife Rosemarie of Fairfax, Virginia; her daughter Sara Nay Karagiorgis and her husband Angelo of Ashburn, Virginia; daughter-in-law Linda H. Nay of Dacula, Georgia; and by her two nieces Sarah T. Shifflett of Churchville, Virginia and Elizabeth T. Ernest of Clifton, Virginia who were like daughters to her. Mrs. Nay was predeceased by her husband Robert Erwin Nay, her second son Richard E. Nay and her sister Sarah Baylor Tunstall.  She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: William Hunt Nay, Emily Nay Cleghorn, Robert Francis Nay, Emma (Nikki) Nay, Drew M. Dudzik, Katie J. Dudzik, Lilya S. Nay, Zhanna C. Nay, and Anna Nay Kephart. Additionally, Mrs. Nay had five great-grandchildren: Madeleine Cleghorn, Ainsley Nay, Spencer Nay Clarke, Baby Dudzik and baby Aeris Kephart.  Mrs. Nay was an honor graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, Virginia graduating two years early at the age of sixteen. She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin University in Staunton. In 1944 she married Robert Erwin Nay of Wheeling, West Virginia and they were married for 68 years until his death in 2012. They had four children. The family resided in Wheeling after Lieutenant Nay returned from military service in France at the end of the war until moving to Springfield, Virginia in 1960. In addition to raising her children Mrs. Nay worked for the Department of the Air Force in the Pentagon before becoming the Principal’s Secretary for Francis Scott Key Intermediate School in Springfield. Mrs. Nay was devoted to her husband and to her large family. Holidays at her home were always celebrations of family and faith. These great traditions are carried on today by her children and grandchildren.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. A private burial will be held at Thornrose Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, in the funeral home.
