Jeffery Scott Ryder, 59, passed away on October 6, 2022 at Augusta Health.

Jeffery was born on May 19, 1963 in Harrisonburg to James Andrew and Bonnie (Kester) Ryder.

Jeffery was a graphic designer and was an avid lifelong birdwatcher and a passionate lover of all animals.

He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Doug (Erika) and Steve (Brenda) Ryder of Staunton; and his partner of 27 years, Stanley DeWitt Irish of Staunton. He has two special cats Ike and Cinco. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews; a great-niece and great-nephew; aunts, Joyce Eckard and Diane Kester; uncles, Jerry Kester, Kenny Hupman, Clayton Ryder, and Willie McCune; three special best friends, Jeff Jackola, Keith Gooden and Adriane Garber; and a host of cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Hazel Ryder and his maternal grandparents, Carl and Hettie Kester.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 6:00-8:00PM at Henry Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Adam Watts.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Audubon Society (225 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014), the Valley Mission (1513 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401) and the American Heart Association (P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284).
