JENNIE P. McALLISTER VERONA, VA Jennie Vernelle (Parrish) McAllister, 92, widow of Sidney Albert McAllister, formerly of 1727 Laurel Hill Road, died Friday, November 1, 2013, in Birch Gardens, Staunton. She was born April 22, 1921, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Howard Hill and Emma (Bishop) Parrish. Mrs. McAllister was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business. She was also valedictorian of her graduating class of Beverly Manor High School. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Hall and Aline Parrish; three brothers, Marvin Parrish, Sr., Burton Parrish, and Calvin Parrish; and a son-in-law, Daniel Petry. Family members include six daughters and four sons-in-law, Nancy M. Petry, Charlotte and Kenneth Cleveland, Judith and Thomas Ross, Doris McAllister, Linda and Howard McNeal, and Faith and Dennis Mitchell; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Carol McAllister, Harold and Charlene McAllister, and Rodney and Rosemary McAllister; twenty-one grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy Wampler, Randy and Donna Petry, Ken and Tonya Cleveland, Kevin and Janet Cleveland, Tim Ross, Tammy and Raymond Lockridge, Duane and Linda McAllister, Dawn and Billy Trimble, Carisa and Josh Jandt, Jeremy and Catherine McNeal, Jason and Michelle McNeal, Jared and Jennie McNeal, Jennifer and Jeff Noble, Nicole and Jon Corbin, Megan and Kevin Dull, Kyle and Heather Mitchell, Lindsey Mitchell, Ryan and Jessica McAllister, Dr. Jenna McAllister, Gavin and Stacy Ferguson, and Ben Ferguson; thirty four great grandchildren; and a great, great grandchild. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, in Laurel Hill Baptist Church by the Revs. Wellford C. Tiller and James F. George. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Kenneth Cleveland, 81 Fieldhaven Place, Staunton.
