John Bentley Myers III, 72, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

He was born on May 27, 1952, in Albemarle County, to the late John B. Myers, Jr. (“Tommy”) and Annie Jennelle Myers.

John was actively involved with his church, Central United Methodist Church in Staunton and also held leadership positions with the Lion's Club in recent years. After a 22 year career as an Army officer who served both domestically and abroad in Germany, John retired from his second career as a college security director in 2018. John was an avid runner, hiker, and train enthusiast, who upon retirement, was able to pursue these interests in the Blue Ridge Mountains/Staunton area.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen Marie Dodt Myers; his daughters, Elizabeth Megan Myers of Pepper Pike, Ohio and Katherine Mae Myers (husband, Micah Meskel) of Milwaukie, Oregon; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Myers of Christiansburg; and his grandchildren, Mia and Charlie Latimer and Lark Meskel.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Myers and his sister, Rebecca Myers McCall.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Central United Methodist Church in Staunton with the Reverend Won Un officiating. A reception will follow.
