After a brief illness, Joseph T. Ziccardy, 93, devoted husband of Maria A. Ziccardy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 9, 2022.
Mr. Ziccardy, son of the late Joseph and Elieen (Rauscher) Ziccardy, was born on August 17, 1929 in Paterson, New Jersey.
He served in the Korean War and married shortly after on June 26, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. While working at ASR he was transferred to Staunton, Virginia. In later years, he was employed at GE. He also became a Master Electrician and opened his own business.
He served his community for many years as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a scout leader to name a few.
Mr. Ziccardy was a man of few words who was dedicated to his family and his church. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church for over 65 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph T. Ziccardy Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maria Ziccardy; a daughter, Marileen McCauley; a son, Paul Ziccardy (Sue); a brother, Raymond Ziccardi (Virginia); eight grandchildren, Benjamin Ziccardy, Cheyenne Crawford, Daniel Ziccardy, Nathaniel Crawford III, Jonathan Crawford, Kristen Lee, Christopher Crawford, Sarah Guffey; a number of great-grandchildren as well as two special friends, Michele LePicq and Hugh Hennessy.
A mass to celebrate his life will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Staunton, Virginia on Wednesday December 21, 2022 at 12 noon. Burial will be private.
