Joyce K. Armstrong

Joyce Elaine Kesterson Armstrong, 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Augusta Health Hospice's Shenandoah House in Fishersville. 

She was born on September 13, 1947, in Augusta County to the late Charles Petit, Jr. and Mary Frances Cline Kesterson.

Throughout her life, Joyce touched the lives of many with her compassion and commitment to caring for others. She was a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant at Western State Hospital in Staunton for over thirty years. Her career as a CNA exemplified her selflessness and dedication to helping those in need.

In her free time, Joyce found joy and relaxation through various hobbies and interests. She was a devoted member of Linden Heights Baptist Church in Staunton and had a passion for crafting, crocheting, and classic westerns.

Joyce is survived her daughters, Kimberley Dawn Armstrong White and her husband, Carlton, and Stephanie Elaine Armstrong Fitzgerald and her husband, Todd; her sister, Sharon Sue Kesterson Niday and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Dustin Todd Fitzgerald, Dakota Marcus White and his girlfriend, Kaila, and Logan Aaron White and his wife, Kelly; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Archer White.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Colin Eugene Armstrong, and her siblings, Roy Wayne Kesterson, Jerry Marcus Kesterson, Nancy Ann Kesterson Taylor, Sara Lee Kesterson Helmick, Barbara Petit Kesterson Bartley, Donna Kay Kesterson Wheeler, and Rebecca June Kesterson Gregory.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Deerfield Community Cemetery with Pastor Theresa Moore officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Fitzgerald, Logan White, Dakota White, Carlton White, Todd Fitzgerald, and Michael Niday.
