Joyce A. Douglass

Joyce Ann (Sheets) Douglass, 73, beloved wife of Jesse Lee Douglass, Jr. and beloved MawMaw of Dae’Shawn and Leland, went home peacefully to see the Lord on November 12, 2021.

Mrs. Douglass was born in Staunton on November 27, 1947, to the late Nelson J. and Thelma (Newlen) Sheets.

In addition to her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her son, Christopher Nelson Douglass and wife, Lisa; her daughter, Shauna Douglass and significant other, Lamont Carter; her sisters, Debbie VanHoozier and Sandra Hevener; and her two grandsons, Dae’Shawn Lee Johnson and Leland Conor Douglass.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Staunton First Church of God by Pastor Sylvia McDorman. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be George Folks, Bruce Newlen, Gary Douglass, Scott Newlen, Lamont Carter, and Charley Douglass.
