Joyce Beatrice Root

JOYCE B. ROOT MT. SIDNEY, VA Joyce Beatrice Root, 74, of 237 Seawright Road, Mt. Sidney, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at Kindred Hospital, Richmond. She was born November 14, 1936 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late E. Everett and Arlene Stone (Jordan) Root. Ms. Root retired with 25 years of service with C & P Telephone Company and was a former nurses aide at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Esther Circle and held numerous positions at the church. She was a member of the Bell Atlantic Pioneers of America. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Clarence and Jerri Lynn Root of Dinwiddie; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Stanley E. and Dana Root and Rodney W. Root, all of Mt. Sidney and Warren and Barbara Root of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin C. Root and a sister, Helen Root Craun. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in Salem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Christopher Carr. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be nephews, Bruce Craun, Timothy Root, Jason Root, Daniel Root, Douglas Root, Donnie Root, and Steve Root. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bell Atlantice Pioneers and employees and friends of Salem Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to Salem Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 38, Mt.
