Joyce S. Johnson

Joyce Marie Shifflet Johnson, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.



 

Born on March 24, 1939, in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Hitzleberger and Irene Shifflet.

 

Joyce dedicated many years of her life to her work at Genicom in Waynesboro as a relay worker.

 

She is survived by her significant other of many years, Theron Benson (Ben); her daughters, Diana Kay Leavell Mader (Jay) and Janet Marie Leavell Robinett (Late Michael); her son, Michael Allen Leavell; her grandchildren, Marcie Mader, Tasha Snodgrass (Roger), Brandon Robinett (Stacy), Marian Updike (David, Jr.), Nikki Savaiinaea (Diah), and Hannah Perry (Jason); her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jewel, Erin, Trevor, Meadow, Eben, Jonathan, Derek, Camden, Katia, Isaiah, Dawson, and Logan, all whom she loved dearly; as well as a number of special nieces and nephews.  

 

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Ridgeview Park - River Pavilion in Waynesboro on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
