Judy Anne Little Matthews, 70, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
She was born on November 7, 1953, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Master Sergeant Warren "Sarge" Henry Little and Mary Eloise Ames Little, of the famed Five Ames Sisters vaudevillian act. Because of her father's distinguished and long-serving military career, Judy was a proud, self-proclaimed "Army brat" and lived all over the United States and many parts of Europe.
Judy had a distinguished working career caring for others as a registered nurse. Throughout her life, Judy was known for her vibrant spirit and creative talents. She had a passion for painting and traveling, with a particular love for beach destinations. Her keen eye for home decor made her an exceptional interior designer, bringing beauty and warmth to every space she touched. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Staunton.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Shiloe Adina Floyd Barnett and her husband, Ryan, and Summer Ames Floyd Earnest; her siblings, John William Little, Linda Lee Little, and Scot Thomas Little; her granddaughter, Madison Earnest; her great-grandchildren, Lily Ames Bowman and Leo Bartley Stone; and her devoted dogs, Riley and Tootsie.
In addition to her loving parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Wayne Floyd and her second husband, Harry "Pete" Mason Matthews, III.
A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with the Reverend Jim Bombi officiating. Inurnment will be private at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
The family would like to invite family and friends to gather after the service at 1808 Whetstone Drive, Waynesboro, VA. 22980.
